“All
Music Must Dance”
George Gardner
All my life I heard my
father say “All Music Must Dance”……. and so it has.
Yes, I hate to
admit it but I just turned 30 and not quite ready to accept
it. I was born and raised in Northeastern Arizona in the
small town of Holbrook. I am the seventh of eight
children. My mother and father were both schoolteachers.
My Dad taught music for over fourty years, and he involved
us in every project he could dream up. This is where I got
my passion for theatre and dance. I married the man of my
dreams ten years ago. He is from the even smaller town of
Joseph City. We now have three wonderful boys, ages 8,3 and
1.
I studied dance
at BYU and ASU. I graduated from ASU with my bachelors in
Theatre. I started teaching dance about 12 years ago. I
have taught dance to local high schools and a couple of
community colleges. I was hired to be the Dance Clinician
for the Northeast Regional Festival for the Junior High
level then later as the Assistant Dance Clinician for the
High school level a couple of years later I was asked to be
the Head Clinician for the High School level. This involves
teaching about 2-3 hundred students from the surrounding
schools. I was also hired to be the theatre choreographer
for Northland Pioneer College for two years. Most recently I
taught several performance art classes of all age groups at
the Mesa Arts Center where I really fell in love with
teaching.
I am so excited
for the opportunity to teach the classes I love. We started
classes at the Johnson Performing Arts Studio, October of
2006, and have enjoyed every minute of it. I really hope
this is not only a good opportunity for me to continue doing
what I love but to offer a little something to our
community. I really look forward to spending time with all
my students and really getting to know all of you.
My father
passed away 3 years ago of cancer and he was a man that
inspired many, and gave all he had to his students and the
community. He is truly my inspiration and hero. I would
like him to know that
“All Music Will Dance”
Sarah Whitmore

Hello to all my fellow dancers!
My name is Sarah Whitmore and I am very excited to begin
teaching dance again, and meet all of my students. Some of
my greatest joys in life have come from performing the art
of dance and more specifically teaching it.
I began dancing in high school
and quickly became a paid choreographer for different
organizations in California. I then earned my bachelors
degree in Dance Education from Brigham Young University
receiving awards and formal
acknowledgements from the
program at graduation. I moved to Colorado and began
teaching choreography and creative/modern dance in the
performing arts school “Attitudes”. Life then took me to
Las Vegas where I became the Dance Program Director in an
inner city school. I found some of the most choice and
rewarding experiences of my life as I taught those amazing
girls and boys! I miss them dearly!
On a more personal note, I am a
spazz and love to sweat in class. The more laughing in my
classes the better. I can out eat any man I know when it
comes to pizza, and my favorite dessert is ice-cream!
I feel privileged to have this
opportunity, and can not wait to start teaching! Come ready
to sweat!
I grew up in Ohio and I come from
a family of nine children. I attended college at Brigham
Young University where I earned a Bachelor’s degree as a
Music Elementary Specialist. I taught elementary music
classes for a year. Soon after, I began working on a
Master’s degree. I still continued my contacts with the
elementary school as a TA for a 3rd grade teacher
and I assisted with the music classes occasionally. In April
of 2004, I received my Master’s Degree in Oboe Performance.
For the past few years, I have been a stay-at-home mom. I
have two girls. Music and
teaching are my favorite pastimes. I look forward to
teaching the Music Mania class and learning with you.

Clogging is an art form and very much a
part of our heritage. It began in the Appalachian Mountains
and now enjoys widespread popularity throughout the United
States and around the world. It has evolved since the 1700’s
and is often compared to tap dancing. The basic difference
is that in clogging the heel keeps the down beat. The shoe
is similar to tap shoes (that’s right, you don’t wear wooden
shoes) except instead of having one tap on your heal and one
on your toe you have 2 taps on your heal and 2 taps on your
toe, known as double taps to create a jingle. It very upbeat
and performed to a variety of music (pop, hip hop, country,
blue grass . . .)
Hello! My name is Kendal McAllister
and I will be teaching clogging along with tap and ballet. I
enjoy all forms art wither it be dancing, music, painting,
fashion, or design. I started dancing at a formal dance
academy when I was 3 years old in Farmington New Mexico. I
began teaching at age 15 and continued into college at
Brigham Young University. While I pursued my bachelor degree
in Arts I was a teaching assistant in clogging classes at
BYU and also worked as a private dance instructor locally.
My husband and I then moved from Utah to Arizona shortly
after we graduated from college. We are getting use to
Arizona and we are enduring the heat!
I have enjoyed the art of dance
throughout my life. I am looking forward to sharing my
passion for art with my students.
Tedd Glazebrook
Hello, My name is
Tedd Glazebrook and I look forward to teaching you the
guitar this year. I have been involved in some form a
musical activity since I was two years old. I have studied
voice, piano, guitar, and drums throughout my life. The
guitar is by far my favorite instrument. I have been
playing the guitar for the last 10 years. For two years I
studied music at Yavapai College in Prescott Arizona, but
went on to receive my degree in Business Management and an
MBA in business. I also serve in my church as the Music
Chairman. I enjoy playing and practicing my music everyday.
Music is my passion and I look forward to sharing and
teaching you what I have learned.
Erin Guereńa

Hello!
My name is Erin Guereńa and I will be teaching beginner
ballet and Stability Ball exercise classes. A native to
Arizona, I love the sun and the heat! I am a mother of two
and have made fitness my profession. I am working on an
education in Exercise and Wellness and I am a trainer for
Water Fitness Instructors for the Valley of the Sun YMCA’s.
I love fitness it all forms.
I danced as a young child but mostly pursued my talents in
swimming. Though most my expertise is in the water
environment, I have discovered through watching my daughter
dance, that there are similarities to both water and dance
movements, thus the creation of Synchronized Swimming. Both
exercises build strength, flexibility, endurance, grace, and
posture. Ballet is an art that will make extreme demands on
your body. I have worked with children and taught swimming
lessons for over ten years but I am very excited for this
new challenge and I can not wait to grow and learn with your
ballerina!

I love music—whether making it myself, listening to someone
else perform it, or dancing to it. I’m constantly amazed at
how much music influences my life. I enjoy singing, and I’ve
learned to play the flute, saxophone, tromb
one, some
percussion, and the organ, but playing the piano is
definitely my first love. I’ve been playing for about 17
years and began teaching piano lessons when I was in high
school. I enjoy helping my students increase their piano
skills and their love of music. I like to include various
learning activities in my lessons and encourage my students
to explore the piano and music—and have fun doing it! It’s a
win-win situation, because I have fun exploring with them!
I’m a Phoenix native and much prefer the heat to the cold
and snow! I received my bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young
University in Provo, and my full-time job is as an editor of
college curriculum.
